Prague has established yet another direct connection with the USA since 7.6.2019. United’s first flight from Newark, a New Jersey airport on the southern outskirts of New York, landed today at Ruzyne. In common with the two other USA lines, the connection is only seasonal.

United Airlines, the world’s fourth-largest airline according to handled passengers, deploy a Boeing 767-300 version for 214 passengers. (30 seats in the United Polaris Business class, which can be folded into a fully horizontal position, 49 seats in the United Economy Plus class, and 135 seats in the United Economy class.) United has used a 28-year-old plane to fly to Prague. Seven hours 34 minutes of flight later, the aircraft landed at 8:20 at Ruzyne.

The new line is planned for October 4, then the operation will be interrupted. According to airport estimates, approximately 43,000 passengers could use the line per year in both directions.

„The new direct United Airlines Prague to Newark Airport in New York connection is the ninth long-distance route that has been established from Vaclav Havel Prague Airport over the past five years. In particular, the line will increase the transportation capacity to the east coast of the USA, where we are experiencing high demand for a long time and will allow further growth in the number of passengers on long-distance flights. It grew by 24% in the last year,” said Václav Řehoř, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.

The Newark connection was a surprise in the case of United; United´s connection to Chicago has already been discussed, where the HQ of the company is located. This year, United has expanded its offer of European destinations to include Naples and Amsterdam.

In addition to United, Delta Air Lines from JFK Airport in New York has been flying to Prague since May. But Newark airport is closed to Manhattan. American Airlines flies to Philadelphia for the second year. In addition to direct contact with Newark, the new line means that you can transfer to other United destinations – not just the USA – including Mexico, Canada, or the Caribbean.
