Prague Airport warns that it does not sell luggage as a matter of principle and urges the public to be cautious. Headlines such as “We are urgently clearing out the airport warehouse and selling luggage lost more than six months ago” are fraudulent.

Fraudulent websites claiming to be lost luggage dealers also exist abroad.

The airport has warned about fake profiles in the past. In February last year, it warned that other European airports were experiencing the same or similar problems.

The airport does not collect or sell lost luggage. “Unclaimed suitcases are an exceptional occurrence at Václav Havel Airport Prague. If this happens, the handling company sends it to the airline’s headquarters three to four days after it is found. It also recommended that you verify the authenticity of your profile and do not share your personal or credit card details.

What should I do if my suitcases are lost?

If your luggage is indeed lost, please head immediately to the baggage claim desk of the airline that handled your flight. Inform the counter staff of the loss, its appearance and complete a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) with them.
