Setting New Records

In 2024, Václav Havel Airport handled a total of 16.35 million passengers, marking an 18% increase from the previous year. This number closely approached pre-pandemic levels, reaching 92% of the record 17.8 million passengers served in 2019.

Ambitious goals have been set for 2025, aiming for a record-breaking 18.4 million passengers. This would surpass even the pre-pandemic high of 2019, reflecting the airport’s successful recovery and growing international appeal.

New Destinations and Expanded Connectivity

To sustain this growth, Prague Airport introduced 41 new routes in 2024, bringing the total number of direct connections to 181 destinations. In 2025, Prague Airport continues to expand its reach with new long-haul services:

  • Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways (from June 2)
  • Toronto with Air Canada (from June 6)
  • Seoul with Asiana Airlines (from April 1)
  • Frankfurt with Condor (from April 1)

These new routes significantly enhance Prague’s global connectivity, offering travelers even more convenient options.

Infrastructure Developments for the Future

To accommodate increasing passenger numbers, Prague Airport is undergoing significant infrastructure improvements. Terminal 2 is set for expansion, while Terminal 1 will see partial extensions. By 2028, these developments are expected to boost the airport’s capacity to handle up to 21 million passengers annually.

Additionally, the airport is working on revamping its runway system. The existing cross-runway layout will be replaced with two parallel runways, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and allowing up to 50 aircraft movements per hour.

Commitment to Sustainability

Environmental sustainability remains a core focus. Prague Airport is investing in eco-friendly technologies, including electric ground-handling vehicles and low-emission terminal designs. These efforts aim to minimize environmental impact while supporting the airport’s operational growth.

Award-Winning Excellence

In recognition of its high standards, Prague Airport has earned international awards for exceptional passenger service quality in 2025. Such accolades underscore the airport’s commitment to enhancing the overall traveler experience, from seamless operations to passenger amenities.

Bright Outlook Ahead

With expanded flight networks, ambitious infrastructure projects, and a dedication to sustainability, Václav Havel Prague Airport is well on its way to becoming one of Europe’s leading airports. The outlook remains robust as passenger numbers continue to rise, marking an exciting chapter for travel through the Czech capital.
