Prague’s Václav Havel International Airport isn’t just a transit hub—it’s a vibrant gateway to Czech art and culture. From large-scale tapestries honoring the country’s first president to contemporary sculptures and a brand-new gallery space, the airport offers passengers an enriching aesthetic journey. The latest addition is the Czech Nature Photo Exhibition, a stunning showcase of eight years’ worth of award-winning nature photography, running from April 3 to October 31, 2025, in Terminal 2.

A New Home for Photography: Terminal 2 Gallery

Located on the ground floor of Terminal 2—just steps from the connector to Terminal 1—the airport’s compact, publicly accessible gallery was unveiled in early April 2025. Designed in partnership with the Czech Photo organisation, it will host rotating thematic shows, beginning with the Czech Nature Photo Exhibition.

“This exhibition shows not only the excellent work of Czech photographers, but also the breathtaking scenery of Czech nature. It fits perfectly with our concept of presenting Czech art, culture and the beauty of our country to passengers,”
— Jakub Puchalský, Member of the Board of Directors, Prague Airport

Celebrating Czech Nature, One Frame at a Time

The Czech Nature Photo Exhibition brings together the finest images from the “Best Czech Nature Photography Award” category across all eight editions of the national competition. Visitors can admire:

  • Sweeping landscapes: Meadows, groves and hidden valleys captured in every season

  • Wildlife portraits: From deer in fog-kissed forests to birds of prey in flight

  • Understated details: Dew-dappled spiderwebs, intricate leaf patterns and more

“Through photographs we want to show that each of us is responsible for the state of nature on our planet and motivate the public to actively protect it,”
— Veronika Souralová, Director of Czech Nature Photo

Featured photographers include Petr Bambousek, Vladimír Čech Jr., Vít Lukáš, Markéta Mastešová, Igor Mikula, Martin Pelánek and other talented professionals and advanced amateurs.

Art Beyond Photography

While the new gallery focuses on nature, art permeates every corner of the airport:

A tribute to Václav Havel’s life and legacy, featuring his inspiring quotes.

  • Flying Man Tapestry (Post-security, Terminal 2)
A 5 × 4.25 m tapestry based on Petr Sís’s drawing, woven in Aubusson, France.

  • Anamorphic Portrait (Arrivals Hall, Terminal 2)
An installation of 3,000 period objects narrating Havel’s story, by Patrik Proško.

  • Pegasus / Horse Power (Departure Hall)
David Černý’s mechanical horse-engine sculpture, recalling Prague’s Waltrovka aircraft factory.

  • Poesiomat (Finger C)
Ondřej Kobza’s poetic periscope, sharing Czech literary and cultural treasures in English.

  • Master Collection of Czech Glass (Terminal 3)
Twelve minimalist glass-and-wood sculptures plus two monumental subfossil-oak pieces, by Vlastimil Beránek, Ela Smrček, Jaroslav Prošek and Pavel Baxa.
