In the year 2025, Václav Havel Airport Prague handled an impressive total of 17,750,528 passengers. This marks an increase of 8.5% compared to the previous year, showcasing growth that is higher than the average in Europe. The number of passengers at Prague Airport has reached its highest operational record yet. Last year, the airport partnered with various airlines to introduce flights to 19 new destinations.
“The year 2025 was challenging for developing air routes. We faced several external factors that were unpredictable and beyond our control, such as the ongoing unstable geopolitical climate worldwide, delays in new aircraft deliveries, and technical issues with some newly received planes. These issues undeniably affected the airport’s overall performance. However, with nearly 17.8 million passengers served, we came very close to the operational record set in 2019,” stated Jiřà Pos, the Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors. He added: “In comparison to 2019, we had 7% fewer takeoffs and landings at our airport. Airlines are utilizing larger aircraft and achieving better load factors, which is a positive trend that helps lessen the environmental impact.” Last year, there were a total of 140,545 aircraft take-offs and landings at Prague Airport.
From 2024 to 2025, the growth in passengers at Prague Airport was 8.5%, surpassing the European average. According to Airports Council International, the average growth rate across the European Union last year was 4.5%. When comparing to the record year of 2019, and excluding passengers on routes to Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, there were 9% more passengers handled at Prague Airport in 2025.
In cooperation with airlines, Prague Airport opened 19 new routes in 2025, with the most notable being long-haul connections. Etihad Airways added a new regular route to Abu Dhabi, and Air Arabia resumed flights to Sharjah after a six-year break. Also, Air Canada began a seasonal route to Toronto. Additionally, 17 new routes to existing destinations were introduced. The arrival of Asiana Airlines at Prague Airport led to an increase in flights to Seoul, which is now served daily. Similarly, the route to Frankfurt am Main saw an increase in competition with the addition of Condor Airlines. Over the past year, more than 70 existing routes experienced increased frequency or more seats available.
Last year, London was the most popular route in terms of passengers, even with a slight decrease of 3% from the previous year. In total, over 1.3 million people traveled between Prague and London in 2025. Other busy routes included destinations like Paris (730 thousand passengers, a 1% increase), Amsterdam (657 thousand passengers, also a 1% increase), Istanbul (587.5 thousand passengers, a significant 23% increase), and Frankfurt am Main (536 thousand passengers, a 22% increase).
Regarding specific countries, the highest passenger traffic was recorded with Great Britain (over 2.2 million passengers, a 6% increase from the previous year, with 16 destinations), Italy (just under 1.9 million passengers, a 2% decrease, with 22 destinations), and Spain (almost 1.8 million passengers, a 9% increase, with 18 destinations).
A total of 84 airlines operated at Václav Havel Airport Prague last year, offering flights to 194 destinations. The airlines that transported the most passengers included Ryanair, Smartwings, easyJet, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa. Low-cost carriers accounted for 45% of all handled passengers in 2025.
