In 2025, Prague Airport managed a remarkable total of 96,481,135 kilograms of air cargo and mail. This achievement not only surpassed the previous record from 2017 but also showed a significant increase of 48% compared to 2024.
“The impressive results can be attributed to the introduction of regular cargo flights by Central Airlines on the route between Prague and Chengdu, China. Additionally, existing cargo carriers like Qatar Airways Cargo, Turkish Cargo, and FedEx expanded their operations. The rise in cargo volume is also linked to the growing e-commerce market and the introduction of new long-haul passenger routes by airlines such as Etihad Airways, Asiana Airlines, and Air Canada,” explained Jindřich Zeman, the Cargo Development Manager at Prague Airport, when discussing the year-on-year progress.
Out of the total amount of cargo transported at Prague Airport last year, imports accounted for 58,672 tons, which represents 61% of the total and reflects an impressive increase of 83% year-on-year. In contrast, exports totaled 37,809 tons, corresponding to 39% of the overall cargo, showing a 14% rise compared to the previous year.
“While Václav Havel Airport Prague primarily serves as a passenger airport, the cargo segment plays a vital role in economically supporting the growth of long-haul passenger services. Moreover, air freight enables the swift transport of goods over great distances without adding to road congestion from trucks,” Jindřich Zeman highlighted the significance of cargo services for Prague Airport.
