STARLUX Airlines, a Taiwanese airline, has announced its very first route in Europe, offering a direct flight between Prague and Taipei. This new service is set to begin on August 1 of this year and will initially operate three times a week. Starting in October, the number of flights will increase to four times weekly. The airline will use an Airbus A350‑900, which comes in four different seating classes.
“We are excited to welcome STARLUX Airlines as a new partner at our airport. Additionally, Prague will be the first city in Europe that the airline will serve on a regular basis. We value this new partnership greatly and are confident that this regular flight will enhance tourism between the Czech Republic and Taiwan. We believe more than 95,000 travelers could use this service in both directions during its first year,” said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors.
The Taiwanese airline will operate the new long-distance route with an Airbus A350-900, which features four cozy cabin classes: First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. The aircraft can accommodate 306 passengers in total.
Passengers will be able to use the new route starting August 1, with flights scheduled three times a week, leaving Prague every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. In October, the frequency will increase to four flights weekly, adding a Monday departure. Besides the direct connection from Prague to Taipei, travelers will also have access to STARLUX Airlines’ extensive network of onward flights to various Asian cities, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Tokyo, Singapore, Osaka, and Hong Kong.
“We are thrilled to announce our new Prague route as STARLUX Airlines’ first European destination, which has been made possible thanks to thorough preparation and strong support from our partners. We sincerely thank Prague Airport for their help,” said Glenn Chai, CEO of STARLUX Airlines. “Prague has always been a popular destination for Taiwanese travelers, and the growing ties in the semiconductor industry are expected to boost demand for flights between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. As Taiwan serves as a key hub in Asia, our vast Asian network will facilitate smooth connections to major cities across the region. Our entire fleet of next-generation Airbus aircraft aims to provide a premium travel experience,” Glenn Chai added.
STARLUX Airlines, which began operations in 2020, is one of the newest airlines in Asia. It is known for offering a distinctive travel experience alongside top-quality service, all at competitive prices. The airline is committed to providing exceptional onboard services and an outstanding experience both in the air and on the ground. The Airbus A350’s cabin design, including its seating, was created by BMW Designworks, reflecting the design legacy of the famous automotive brand. The inflight dining experience is inspired by multiple Michelin-starred restaurants, with menus developed in collaboration with renowned culinary brands from various global regions.
In addition to the Economy Class, STARLUX Airlines will also provide the increasingly sought-after Premium Economy service on the Prague–Taipei route. This class will feature more spacious seating, significantly greater legroom, and improved meal options. Business Class will offer fully reclined seats that come with private doors, creating individual suites for added privacy. The exclusive First Class cabin will have just four seats. Generous baggage allowances are in place, allowing even passengers in Economy Class to check in two bags of up to 23 kg each. Each seat will be equipped with a personal entertainment screen, offering a wide array of movies and TV shows, including selections from HBO MAX.
Taipei is still a relatively undiscovered gem for Czech travelers. It is a vibrant city filled with colors, tastes, traditions, and modern influences. The tallest building in Taipei, the Taipei 101, reaches 508 meters and consists of 101 floors. Visitors can reach the observation deck on the 89th floor in just 37 seconds via a lift designed with a special air pressure system. Another historical highlight is Freedom Square, where you can find the magnificent Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, dedicated to the former President of the Republic of China. To experience local religious traditions, visiting the impressive Longshan Temple, which is at the foothills of Dragon Mountain, is a must. The temple, decorated with intricate dragons and lanterns and filled with the scents of incense, offers a space for meditation and, as locals say, a chance to converse with deities. For nature lovers, Taipei provides easy access to natural escapes, with Elephant Mountain being a popular spot to enjoy breathtaking views of the city skyline.
Ticket sales will be launching soon, primarily through the airline’s official website www.starlux-airlines.com, and later through select travel agencies.
