Václav Havel Airport in Prague is set to increase its long-haul flight options to North America. American Airlines will begin operating a direct route from Prague to Philadelphia next year. This seasonal service will run daily from May 21 to October 5, 2026. The airline will use the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for this route.
“Starting the direct flights between Prague and Philadelphia has been a top priority for us. We are thrilled about our successful collaboration with American Airlines, which was made possible through the coordinated efforts and support from our partners. This new route is a key part of our strategy to develop long-haul flights and enhance direct connections between the Czech Republic and North America. We are confident that this route will be profitable and advantageous for both Czech passengers and visitors coming to Prague for leisure or business. We are very thankful for the partnership with American Airlines and eagerly await the launch of this direct service,” stated Jiří Pos, the Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors.
The new direct flights to Philadelphia will provide travelers with a quick connection to one of American Airlines’ major hubs on the East Coast of the U.S. From there, passengers can easily reach over 100 other destinations in North America. Flights from Philadelphia International Airport will leave at 6:40 p.m. local time, arriving in Prague at 8:45 a.m. the next day. The return flight from Prague will take off at 11:00 a.m. and arrive in Philadelphia at 2:00 p.m. local time.* Tickets will soon be available on the airline’s website.
“We are seeing more and more demand for flights to and from culturally rich cities. Customers are increasingly interested in exploring historical locations and cultural experiences like never before,” mentioned José A. Freig, Vice President of International and Inflight Dining Operations. “This new route will give our customers in the Czech Republic access to one of our fastest-growing hubs in the United States, Philadelphia, from where they can travel to over 100 destinations in the U.S. and beyond.”
The initiation of direct flights between Prague and Philadelphia was supported by the standard incentive program at Prague Airport, along with marketing campaigns aimed at the U.S. market. These efforts were made in collaboration with key tourism organizations, including CzechTourism and Prague City Tourism. Additionally, activities were coordinated under the working group focused on direct air connections to the U.S., which includes representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Czech embassy in the United States.
